Job Opportunities at Lake Charter Township

Lake Charter Township, a community on the southeast shores of Lake Michigan is seeking an individual for the position of water plant Operator/Distribution worker. This individual will work under the directions of the water plant Superintendent. It is a full time position with excellent benefits.

The Township water treatment plant is rated a 7 million gallons per day and services five surrounding communities. For more information on the position and job description, please click here. The job application can be found to the right of the page, listed under General Forms.


2015 taxes can not be accepted at the Township any longer. They must be paid to the Berrien County Treasurer at 701 Main Street, St Joseph, MI 49085. Please contact them at 269-983-7111 ext. 8569 for current amounts due.

Curbside Recycling has started in Lake Township! If you haven't signed up and received a container, it's not too late. Just contact the Township Hall and we'll get you up and running. There is no cost to residents and they pick up once every two weeks the same day as regular garbage is collected. Join hundreds of others committed to helping reduce landfill waste.

Chief Heyn and Captain Jones made memories for a local family. As part of the Bridgman Foundation for Educational Excellence "Now and Forever" silent auction fund raiser in February the Rumsey family won the fire tour and ride in the Lake Township fire truck. Thanks to Chief Heyn and Captain Jones for supporting the Foundation and making these kids dreams come true! See the attached pictures of the tour.

The Fire Department Pancake Breakfast will be Sunday, May 22nd for 8:00 am to 12:00 noon at the Public Safety Building, 3169 Shawnee Rd. Also don't forget the fire department has smoke detectors available to Township residents at no cost. Contact the fire department at 269-465-6351 for more information.
